As you can probably tell from my lack of posts that things have been super crazy for the last few months. Been in work full swing on multiple projects, went on a two week vacation to the Emerald Isle, spent 2 months making a cosplay and assisting in 2 other cosplays and took a serious hiatus from artwork. So now that the pace is going to be returning to normal, I'm back to working on my Reaper of Souls painting.
As you may recall a few months back I had my drawings on a flash drive which became corrupted and thus I lost a lot of progress on this picture. I've had to start a few things again and am slowly getting back up to where I left off. Here is just a teaser of what I've been working on. Strings have been modelled, as well as the frets, bridge, saddle, and nut. Now just to perfect the texture and bump map on the string :) So while I wait for renders to finish up on the Tron project, I've been practicing my modelling and texturing skills. Been working on this for a bit each day, now just need to either texture or model the frets and strings. thinking modelling might be the easier way to go. This whole guitar idea started I finished the model for my re-design of Peabody from Portal 2 just yesterday morning! It's now being turned into a school project as I will be adding shaders, texture, UV mapping and rigging to it! Can't wait to see this thing working live inside Portal!
Check out the video on the 3D modelling page! so unfortunately as of yesterday my flash drive containing my "reaper of souls" painting corrupted. I thankfully saved a previous version on my laptop so I will have to re-do a few things but all hope is not lost!
lesson learned: always eject your external discs properly!!! So the deadline for the contest is this Friday, and I still have tonnes of work to do on my reaper design as well as painting the background. Looks like this one will be out of the running for prizes, but it will be a great addition to my portfolio when it is done. It is great to give yourself the challenge of a contest, but even better when you get to do something you love without the pressure of time constraints. |
